Helene Honeybone is new Honorary Consul at the Consulate of Sweden Dallas

Swedish origin Helene Honeybone moved to Dallas twenty-five years ago where she is running her own ad agency. As a new Honorary Consul, succeeding Tina Klintmalm, she wants to use her background and connections and assist SACC-Texas in creating new opportunities for trade and investment for Swedish-Texas businesses

Could you tell us a bit about your background and how you ended up here in Dallas?
I came to the US and Dallas over 25 years ago. Both my husband and I ended up getting jobs here after moving from Singapore. I worked with marketing for TXI, a large cement, concrete and steel manufacturer back then with headquarters in Dallas. During my first week on the job, I found out that the Swedish Consulate was in the same building, and Bob Alpert, who was the Honorary Consul back then, was also on the Board of Directors of TXI. Small world! As the ladies in the office didn’t speak much Swedish, I would also help out at the Swedish Consulate now and then as needed, so you could say I have come full circle.

As new Honorary Consul for Sweden in Dallas, what do you see as your most important tasks?
To represent Sweden and Swedish interests in North Texas and surrounding areas by helping to promote Swedish culture and industry, and by supporting Swedish citizens with Consular matters.

You are also a new board member in SACC Dallas. How would you like to contribute there?
I hope to be able to use my background and connections and assist SACC-Texas in creating new opportunities for trade and investment for Swedish-Texas businesses.
