Dear SACC-Houston friends,
As we are in the final planning of the traditional annual SACC-Houston Holiday party next week, it is also time to summarize a fantastic 2014. This is the time of the year you realize that time flies.
2014 started off with the very popular annual Golf Tournament, jointly organized together with the Norwegian and Danish chambers. And in March SACC together with the Swedish Consulate organized a Luncheon with the Swedish Ambassador Björn Lyrvall who visited Houston. This lunch at the Federal Reserve Bank was very well attended and it was interesting to hear the Ambassadors view on USA and Texas.
In June we tried something new. SACC together with the Swedish Consulate, SWEA and the Swedish Club of Houston jointly celebrated the Sweden’s National Day. This was a very successful and appreciated event and maybe we have started a new tradition here. We also organized a “Business Speed Dating” for our members and some special invited guests. It was a interesting test and we booked the “Cola Corner” at the Minute Maid Park, where we met, mingled, had a bite to eat and watched the Astros play a game.
Many of our members travel to Sweden in the Summer and it is a good opportunity when coming back in September to meet with friends at the Scandinavian Business Mixer, an event organized jointly by Swedish, Norwegian and Danish chambers. This is an event I would like to promote for next year, a perfect opportunity to meet with old and new friends from the Scandinavian countries.
During the fall we have had a few information events and now we are looking forward to the Holiday celebration next week. If you have not signed up yet, you’d better hurry up. And this is something you don’t want to miss. The food will be prepared by the Danish born chef Soren Pedersen. Soren is co-founder of the award winning restaurant Sorrel Urban Bistro in Houston.
So I hope to see you next week. If not, I take the opportunity and wish you all a Happy New Year.
