On February 12, Minister for Foreign Affairs Maria Malmer Stenergard presented the 2025 Statement of Foreign Policy in the Riksdag. As part of Sweden’s commitment to strengthening its international presence, we are pleased to announce the opening of a new Consulate General in Houston, further expanding Sweden’s diplomatic reach in the United States.
This initiative is part of a broader strategy and the purpose of the reinforcements is to contribute to higher growth, strengthen Swedish competitiveness, and make Sweden more attractive as an investment country by improving the conditions for trade, investments, and innovation.
Texas, known for its dynamic economy, plays a crucial role in global industries, and Houston stands out as a key hub for energy, emerging technologies, and life sciences. The Consulate General will work to deepen collaboration in these sectors, further strengthening the relationship between Sweden and the United States.
